  1. What if my jewelry contains diamonds, other gemstones, or pearls?

  2. The price we offer is based on the item's gold, platinum or silver content only. We do not remove, return or compensate for any diamonds or other precious, semi-precious, or non-precious stones, pearls, beads, etc., that are attached to the jewelry. Sellers who wish to keep their stones are welcome to remove them before sending their items to us.

  3. May I ship my jewelry in jewelry boxes?

  4. Yes, but we cannot return jewelry boxes or bags. Please do not enclose any packaging materials that you would not mind discarding.

  5. How will my valuables be transported safely from my home to BJ's Gold Exchange?

  6. Your first step is to fill out our BJ's online registration form, under New Seller? Let's get started. Choose how you want to send us your jewelry: whether you want to print your free FedEx insured shipping label immediately, or have us mail you a free FedEx insured shipping Kit. Either way, you will immediately be assigned your unique Transaction Number and FedEx Tracking Number and receive an email confirmation. If you need help filling out the online form, or prefer to register by phone, please call us at 877-221-0444. If you print your label online, carefully pack your items in a sturdy, sealable padded shipping envelope or box, enclose a print-out of your email confirmation, and affix your FedEx label. If you request a shipping Kit by mail, follow the instructions provided with the Kit. When your package is ready to go, hand it to a FedEx driver, or drop it off at a staffed FedEx location (not a drop box) and get a receipt. To activate your $300 insurance coverage (see #8 if more insurance is needed), make sure FedEx scans your tracking number into its system. You can find your nearest non-drop-box FedEx location at FedEx.com, or call 800-GO-FEDEX to request location information.

  7. How much will it cost me to ship my items to BJ's Gold Exchange?

  8. Absolutely nothing. Your insured FedEx shipping label or shipping Kit come at no cost to you — that's right, free with our compliments. It can be used any time, but you are under no obligation to use it if you change your mind or prefer to use a different carrier. Also, if you do send us your items and receive a check, but then decide to return the check and get your items back, we will again ship them insured and free of charge.

  9. May I send my items by mail or with a private carrier other than FedEx®?

  10. Yes, but we only accept shipments from Sellers who have pre-registered and been assigned a unique transaction number. For easy barcode identification by our system, please enclose a copy of the FedEx label you printed online or received in a Kit (you can also use the Kit's ID-coded inner bag). Apply your own shipping label from your choice of carrier (FedEx®, USPS®, etc.), and write your Transaction Number on the outside of the package. Don't forget to request adequate insurance, and get a shipping receipt from your carrier (if your shipment is lost or damaged in transit, you will be responsible for filing a claim). After we receive and process your items, we'll reimburse your shipping cost (up to $10) by adding it to your payment. Ship to:

  11. May I send my items from outside the 50 U.S. States and District of Columbia?

  12. Yes, but we only accept shipments from Sellers who have pre-registered and been assigned a unique Transaction Number. Since we cannot generate a FedEx tracking number for your location, you'll be unable to print a shipping label online; you can only request a Kit, which will be mailed to you without a label. For easy barcode identification by our system, please use the Kit's ID-coded inner bag. Apply your own shipping label from your choice of carrier (FedEx®, USPS®, etc.), and write your Transaction Number on the outside of the package. Don't forget to request adequate insurance, and get a shipping receipt from your carrier (if your shipment is lost or damaged in transit, you will be responsible for filing a claim).   13. How much material can I send?

  14. We will buy as much gold, silver or platinum as you wish to sell. No matter how much material you send, we will make it as easy and secure as possible for you to get it to us. If based on your estimate using our What We Pay page you believe that the total value of your items is more than $300, or if your shipment is too large or bulky for our Shipping Kit, please email us at customerservice@bjsgoldexchange.com, or call us at 877-221-0444, for assistance. We are Patriot Act compliant; certain transactions may be subject to specific federal reporting and recordkeeping requirements.

  15. What if my shipment is damaged or lost?

  16. Occasionally packages are damaged or lost in transit. To prevent monetary damage, you must make sure that (1) the Declared Value of your shipment is adequate, and (2) FedEx scans your label barcode into its system and gives you a receipt. Use our What We Pay page to roughly estimate how much Declared Value your shipment requires. We automatically set the Declared Value at $300; if you determine that the total value of your items exceeds $300, it is up to you to request a label with a higher Declared Value, by emailing customerservice@bjsgoldexchange.com, or calling 877-221-0444. You'll have peace of mind knowing that you will be properly compensated — no matter what happens to your shipment. In the event that we do not receive your package on the scheduled delivery date, we will immediately report it to FedEx, and they will launch an investigation. You may be contacted by FedEx, and we may request a copy of your shipping receipt for documentation. BJ's Gold Exchange and Refinement Services LLC cannot be responsible or liable for packages damaged or lost while in transit to our facility, but we will prepare and file a FedEx claim on your behalf, and (upon payment of your claim) we will reimburse you in the amount of your Declared Value. If you choose to use a carrier other than FedEx, you will be responsible for filing any claims.

  17. How long will it take for my shipment to get to the processing facility?

  18. Depending on your "Ship From" location, your shipment will take 1-3 business days to arrive. Saturdays, Sundays, and major US legal holidays are not included.

  19. How will I know when my package has safely arrived at BJ's Gold Exchange?

  20. As soon as your package arrives, we will send you an email alert. In the meantime, you can track your shipment by logging in to our site under Existing Seller Login, by visiting FedEx.com, or by calling FedEx toll-free at 800-GO-FEDEX. The initial unpacking and weighing of your items will be documented by our video webcam. You will observe your own package in the skilled hands of our knowledgeable, experienced staff, and be able to watch us remove everything you packed. It's almost as if you traveled to our store and delivered your items in person, but without leaving the comfort of your home or office.

  21. How can BJ's Gold Exchange assure the safety and security of my valuables and an accurate evaluation?

  22. Your peace of mind is important to us, because you are entrusting us with your valuables and counting on us to pay you a fair price. We take security extremely seriously and assume full responsibility for your valuables while they are on our premises. All deliveries to our Refinement Services center are immediately logged into our system, and the entire facility is equipped with multiple surveillance cameras and insured by Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company. Our employees are carefully screened and trained in using the latest, most accurate precious-metals testing methods. With our video receiving, we provide our Sellers the highest level of transparency in the industry. Our scales are government certified and we weigh everything at least three times: (1) at the end of the receiving video (at which time the gross weight of your items is recorded in our system), (2) during processing, and (3) upon final management approval — making sure nothing, no matter how small, ever "falls through the cracks."

  23. How will my jewelry be tested?

  24. We use environmentally friendly X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for the most accurate and reliable results. No toxic or corrosive chemicals are used in the testing of your jewelry.

  25. How much will BJ's Gold Exchange pay me for my items?

  26. The amount we pay is based on precious-metal content only, because (1) all of our Sellers' shipments must be evaluated fairly, using the same criteria, and (2) everything will be melted down for refinement (after the payment is accepted). We use three critical factors to determine the value of your items:
    • the purity (karat value or percentage) of the precious metals.
    • the weight of the item(s), excluding any stones, pearls, non-precious-metal parts, etc.
    • the prices we're paying on the day of receipt (see What We Pay).

  27. But what if I purchased or had my jewelry appraised elsewhere at a certain price? Should I enclose a copy of my receipt or appraisal?

  28. First, wholesale jewelry pricing is based on much more than only precious-metal value. It includes design, workmanship, labor, marketing, rent, salaries, etc. Next, most retail jewelry pricing adds more layers of "costs of doing business," leading to markups that are often three or more times the wholesale price. Finally, appraisals performed for marketing or insurance purposes are known to be grossly inflated to well over double the retail price. The bottom line is, what you paid or had your jewelry appraised for, has little relationship to what the pure gold itself is worth. It would be unrealistic to expect to receive anything like your original retail cost or appraisal value. If, however, you are not looking to sell your pieces for scrap, but as wearable "estate" jewelry for someone else to enjoy, you may prefer to sell them privately or through an online auction site.

  29. How quickly, and by what method, will BJ's Gold Exchange pay me?

  30. When you first register, we offer you a choice of one of the following payment methods:
    •   —  check sent by regular First-Class Mail (free).
    •   —  check sent by overnight courier (we'll deduct $45 from your payment) — delivery Monday through Friday only, no Saturday or Sunday delivery.


  31. If I chose to be paid by check, will I know the amount before I receive it?

  32. No matter which payment method you've chosen, we will email you as soon as your payment amount is determined. You are encouraged to log in to our site under Existing Seller Login, see your video and review your itemized transaction details. You may also email us at customerservice@bjsgoldexchange.com, or call us at 877-221-0444 if you have questions.

  33. What if I am not satisfied with the payment amount?

  34. Just mail back your uncashed check to: Refinement Services LLC, 444 Merrick Road, Suite 112, Lynbrook, NY 11563. As soon as we receive your check, we will immediately ship your items back to you at our expense, insured for the amount of your check or the Declared Value of your original shipment, whichever is greater. You will receive an email notification confirming the shipment. If your check is cashed or deposited, we will consider your payment as accepted and your transaction as closed. Your items will be melted down for refinement and will no longer be returnable.

  35. I'm satisfied with my payment, but will BJ's Gold Exchange return the non-gold items I was not paid for?

  36. Unfortunately, we cannot separate out specific items from shipments and return them. Please send only items you are willing to part with if you approve the payment.

  37. Do you need to be a BJs member to take advantage of this service?

  38. No, all BJs members and Non-Members are welcome.

  39. Will my Gold Redemption count towards my BJís Rewards earnings?

  40. No, redemption will not be counted as part of your BJís Rewards earnings.
